The right tool for a specific view: that large-cap US technology will outperform global equities over your investment horizon. It's a tilt, not a core holding. The 0.30% TER is higher than alternatives, reflecting the brand premium on Nasdaq-100 exposure.

EQQQ is the UCITS equivalent of QQQ — the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq. Heavily weighted towards technology. Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, and Alphabet make up over 40% of the fund. It's a concentrated, technology-heavy bet, not a diversified portfolio.

The Nasdaq-100 includes the 100 largest non-financial companies on the Nasdaq exchange. Despite common perception, it's not exclusively tech — Amazon, Tesla, Costco, and PepsiCo are all included. But tech dominates. The index excludes financials (banks, insurance) which explains why it looks different from the S&P 500.

US equivalent blocked in Europe

QQQ (Invesco)

Why it works for European investors

  • The only way European retail investors can access Nasdaq-100 in UCITS form
  • Ireland domicile — 15% US withholding tax treaty
  • Accumulating — no annual dividend tax in most European countries
  • One of the older UCITS ETFs (2002) — long track record

Things to know

  • 0.30% TER is 4× more expensive than CSPX for similar but broader US exposure
  • Extremely concentrated in technology and US markets
  • Top 10 holdings represent ~50% of the fund — VWCE is spread across ~3,700 stocks
  • Higher volatility than a diversified global ETF — larger drawdowns in tech sell-offs
  • Cheaper alternative: iShares Nasdaq 100 UCITS ETF (CNDX) at 0.20% TER
